From 1–3 June 2026, the final conference of the Active2Public Transport (A2PT) project took place in Ljubljana, marking the successful completion of two and a half years of transnational cooperation under the Interreg Danube Region Programme.
The event brought together project partners to present the main achievements of the project, reflect on the experiences gained through the implementation of the pilot actions, and discuss how the project's results can be further capitalised on and transferred beyond its lifetime.
Throughout its implementation, A2PT highlighted the importance of integrating active mobility with public transport by promoting solutions that improve first- and last-mile connectivity and encourage more sustainable travel behaviour.
The pilot actions implemented across the partner regions demonstrated that people are willing to adopt more sustainable mobility options when they have access to safe infrastructure, reliable information, and integrated transport services.
One of the project's key outputs is the A2PT Toolbox, a practical resource that brings together methodologies, good practices, and recommendations to support public authorities, transport professionals, and other stakeholders in planning and implementing measures that strengthen the integration of active mobility and public transport.
The final conference provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among project partners, exchange knowledge and lessons learned, and promote the project's results, contributing to the development of more sustainable, accessible, and integrated mobility systems across the Danube Region and beyond.
